ashy boy
yeah i like playing "rich girls" during my sets, but i could never decide if i like the original virgins version or the Schwayze edit more. As a result of my conundrum, ashraf made me a little edit that has proven to work really well. here it is

here in el paso, it seems people have no idea what "vegas" or "l.a." style are. new lounges and bars/ boutique clubs open up all the time and everyone claims they are doing it "Vegas style". in fact, ive been asked to play "vegas style". The problem with this is, when these people say this or ask for that, in their warped head they are thinking all they are gonna hear all night is electro-house and whatever other house sub genre you can think of. My question is, how the fuck is that vegas style? sure there are places in vegas that play house and you will hear some house in most clubs, but the majority of what is being played is hip hop with rock and some house added for flavor. Some contend that if a place plays hip hop, it will get ghetto. I disagree. The people you let in are what makes a place ghetto, and of course if you play nothing but 70 bpm hip hop all night, it will get ghetto. I think every dj and club owner here needs to go spend a week in vegas and hit all the big name clubs. if not, get on youtube and check out djs like stonerokk, graham funke, roctakon, fashen or even dj am. and on a side note- SERIOUSLY?!?! people still ask for fucking TIESTO?!? at black market of all places? if anyone that would ask for that is reading this- black market is not a fucking rave or even a club! if you see the dancefloor full of people dancing to a hip hop set, dont come ask for tiesto, in fact, even if no one is feeling it, dont ever ask for tiesto. NO!
first post
So this is it, my first post. I'm going to start by listing some of my favorite things i have heard while djing. As i remember more things or hear more things, i will post them.
last night @ muse i was playing the Fashen edit of the Smiths classic "Stop me if you think that you've heard this one before" and some guy asked me who did this Mark Ronson cover.
A couple of weeks ago, some guy asked me to play that new M.I.A. song "the paper planes".
Over the holidays, some girl asked me for T.I. so i played " Why you wanna". As that track was playing, she came back and said, " can you please play some T.I. already?"
i have hundreds of these stories, as does any other working dj. these are all i can remember this moment off the top of my head so i'll leave it short and sweet. post your own stories in the comments section.
p.s. this will also me the infamous dj ashraf mohammad's stomping ground until he takes a cue from me and makes his own, even "ALT-er" blog.
